Jacob Moffet McNeel was active in church and civic affairs and had served as a clerk of the Presbyterian session.  Rachel Ann Edgar McNeel was a member of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and had served for several years as an active Sunday School teacher.  She also was a member of the Hillsboro Farm Woman's club.

Obituary - BE19631 - McNEEL, Jacob Moffet - 66 widely known Pocahontas County farmer, died Thursday night at his home in Hillsboro after a long illness.  Service will be 2 PM Sunday in Oak Grove Presbyterian Church at Hillsboro.  Rev. Collier S. Harvey Jr. and Rev. J.D. Arbuckle will officiate.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.   Mr. McNeel was active in church and civic affairs and had served as a clerk of the Presbyterian session.  He was a member and elder of Oak Grove Church.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rachel Ann Edgar McNeel; two sons, Samuel McNeel Jr. of Miami FL and Jacob McNeel Jr. at home.  two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hilleary of Hillsboro and Mrs. Earl Edwards of Charleston, a sister Mrs. Lida Bartholomew of Hillsboro; and eight grandchildren. The body is at Smith mortuary in Marlinton.

Obituary - Mrs. Rachel Ann Edgar McNeel, 78 of Hillsboro, died Thursday September 11, 1969 in the Denmar State Hospital at Beard after a long illness.   Born in Hillsboro September 17, 1890, she was the daughter of the late Captain Alfred and Lydia Ann Edgar.  She was a member of the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and had served for several years as an active Sunday School teacher.  She also was a member of the Hillsboro Farm Woman's club.  Her husband, J. Moffett McNeel, preceded her in death.  Survivors include two sons, Samuel Edgar and Jacob Moffet McNeel, Jr. both of Hillsboro, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary M. Hilleary of Hillsboro and Mrs. Nancy Edwards of Teaneck, New Jersey; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church at Hillsboro by the Rev. Cecil Dalton assisted by the Rev. J. D. Arbuckle of Abingdon, VA with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Obituary - Jacob Moffett McNeel was born October 30, 1892, at Hillsboro, son of the late Samuel E. and Mary Beard McNeel, and departed life on February 19, 1959, at his home near Hillsboro after a long illness.   Funeral services were held on Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church where he was a life long member and Clerk of the Session.  The Rev. Collier S. Harvey, Jr. and the Rev. J.D. Arbuckle officiated.   Burial was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery.   Mr. McNeel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel Ann Edgar McNeel; four children, Samuel E. of Miami, FL; Jacob Moffet Jr. at home; Mrs. Mary Hilleary of Hillsboro; and Mrs. Earl Edwards of Charleston; a sister Mrs. Lida Bartholomew of Hillsboro, and eight grandchildren.  In addition to being the Clerk of the Session of his Church, He was Executive Director of the P. C. A. and a member of the Board of the National Federal Loan Association.  he was active in Civic affairs and will be greatly missed in the community and country.
